Oil and Chemical Spills: An Explanation

The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) maintains a record of all oil and chemical spills that are reported to the DEP in its Oil and Chemical Spill Database. This database includes spills ranging from an accidental diesel fuel spill to major accident at a chemical manufacturing facility. It is important to note that this database only includes those spills which were reported to the DEP and in most cases, the size of the spill is unknown.
