Massachusetts Dirty Dozen Awards 2003
The Dirty Dozen Awards raise the profile of toxic pollution statewide
and boost local efforts to fight toxics in Massachusetts communities.
This year's 12 recipients have all distinguished themselves by their
threat to public health and the environment and for the lack of
aggressive action taken by the industry and/or government officials
to address the situation.
The recipients were selected from more than 20 nominations from
residents across the Commonwealth. The winners were chosen by a
committee of eight environmental, worker health and safety, and
public health experts, and are being honored at media events at
the sites throughout the week.
